Start date: 08/24/2026; duration: 13 weeks; weekly pay: $1,602–$1,668; guaranteed hours: 36; shift: 7:00 pm–7:00 am (3x12-hour nights); setting: a rural med/surg unit with telemetry, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, GYN, and occasional pediatric patients. The role includes RN charge nurse responsibilities on assigned shifts within a hospital-adjacent medical-surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for adult med/surg patients, including telemetry monitoring
  • Serve as RN charge nurse during your shift, coordinating staff assignments and patient flow
  • administer medications, perform focused assessments, and help develop and adjust care plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, advance practice providers, and the broader care team; document thoroughly
  • Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and implement appropriate interventions; escalate as needed
  • Ensure compliance with clinical policies, safety, infection control, and quality standards

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Texas
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Charge nurse experience required
  • Med/Surg experience with telemetry, general surgery, orthopedics, or GYN; pediatric experience a plus
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred; ADN accepted)
  • Ability to work 7:00 pm–7:00 am on a 3x12-hour schedule; 13-week assignment; 36 guaranteed hours
  • Willingness to travel to a rural assignment and participate in required credentialing
