Responsibilities may span preparation, surgical, or recovery areas depending on assignment. Obtain and document comprehensive nursing histories from patients and families Perform patient assessments and record vital signs, escalating changes as needed Identify abnormal diagnostic data and communicate findings to the care team Develop and update care plans, including patients and families in goal-setting Provide safe, therapeutic care based on established care plans Accept accountability for assigned patients, including oversight of nonprofessional staff Evaluate and document patient response to nursing care in the medical record Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready Assist surgeons during procedures by providing instruments and supplies Monitor vital signs and patient condition before, during, and after surgery Implement infection control protocols to reduce postoperative infection risk Operate C-Arm fluoroscope under surgeon guidance, when assigned
Associate's degree required; BSN preferred Current RN license in good standing required BLS certification required CPAN certification preferred 1+ year of OR and/or PACU nursing experience preferred Working knowledge of current nursing trends and the state Nurse Practice Act Skills for Success Skilled at measuring and interpreting vital signs and levels of consciousness Strong patient assessment and monitoring abilities Knowledge of surgical protocols and appropriate scrub processes Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, families, and staff Strong organization and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure Collaborative team player who can lead when needed Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
