Position Summary

The RN, Lactation Specialist is a licensed professional who provides patient education services and materials; offers breastfeeding products for sale and rental to clients; provides educational services and disseminates research and clinical findings to professional staff in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center. The RN, Lactation Specialist assists staff to prioritize the patient’s breastfeeding needs into the plan for patient care and collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care. EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE: Minimum: One year of acute maternal child nursing ideally in a hospital Mother-Baby unit Desired: Acute care lactation experience Completion of 95 hours of lactation specific education which meets the requirement for the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum: Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing. Current CPR Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider card Certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) (within 6 months of hire) (dept tracks) SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Requirements

Candidates must be a licensed Registered Nurse in California with CPR and NRP certifications. A minimum of one year of acute maternal child nursing experience is required, and IBCLC certification is required within six months of hire.
