The Physical Therapy Assistant instructs and assists patients with exercises and functional activities while administering manual therapeutic interventions. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary medical team to coordinate treatment plans and monitor patient progress.

Job Summary

  • Insight Comprehensive Therapy is seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to assist our mission in providing patient care second to none! The Physical Therapy Assistant must have the ability to work in a very fast paced environment while providing excellent customer service, patience, empathy, and patient care at all times. Our ideal Physical Therapy Assistant candidate will exhibit a team player mentality and are committed to running a smooth, professional and efficient schedule for physicians and team members, which will allow for an enjoyable environment and experience for our patients to thrive. The Physical Therapy Assistant is a key professional to our processes, therefore candidates who demonstrate superior communication and professionalism abilities and relatability to our patients and colleagues is desired.

Duties

  • Instructs, motivates, safeguards, and assists patients as they practice exercises or functional activities
  • Confers with physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing staff, etc., to discuss patient information in regard to planning, modifying, and/or coordinating treatment
  • Transports patients to and from treatment areas; lifts and transfers patients according to positioning requirements
  • Safely secures patients into or onto therapy equipment
  • Administers active or passive manual therapeutic interventions that include: heat, ultrasound, electrical modality treatments, and mechanical traction
  • Communicates with and/or instructs caregivers/family members on patient therapeutic activities or treatment plans to maximize patient care
  • Measures patients' range-of-motion, body parts, or vital signs to determine effects of treatment
  • Monitors and records the operation and use of equipment, and administration of treatment
  • Ability to get into the pool with patients that require aquatic therapy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent required, Associate’s or Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Current State of Michigan PTA license required
  • Current CPR certification
  • Proven excellence in patient safety and care
  • Previous experience is preferred within a clinic environment
  • Previous experience working through procedures and assisting clients in a highly professional and approachable capacity
  • Demonstrated excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment while maintaining positive energy
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
  • Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive
  • Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
  • Detailed oriented, conscientious and committed to precision in work results
  • Ability to perform to a high level of accuracy
  • Friendly, empathetic & respectful

Requirements

Candidates must possess a current State of Michigan PTA license and CPR certification. A high school diploma is required, though an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
