The Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical services for the practices that comprise the Taxter Road location. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for monitoring patient's vital signs, patient intake and output, and recording patient history. Performs related work as required. Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
Essential Functions 1.
Take and record patients height, weight, health history and vital signs including blood pressure and blood drawing (venipuncture) and EKGs.

Assist physician with physical exams and medical procedures by positioning patient and checking vital signs during procedures.
Performs all appropriate clerical work in connection with the preparation of billing source documents, insurance forms, diagnostic testing order forms.
ADA 3.
Sterilize instruments and equipment using autoclave.
ADA 4.
Prepares medical records and documentation/chart for physician(s).
ADA 5.
Enters the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications.
ADA 6.
Ensures medical record compliance by self-documentation attestation.
ADA 7.
Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient chart.
ADA 8.
Prepares and sends all documentation for physician review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and specialty specific procedures.
ADA 9.
Complies with medical facility policies, including those related to HIPAA.
ADA 10.
Order and maintain supplies and prepare examination rooms.
ADA 11.
Maintain logbooks, abnormal results laboratory, and pathology specimens.
ADA 12.
Assist in clerical procedures such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls and recording messages and completing forms, medical records and requests for lab tests and x-rays.
ADA 13.
Performs routine tests such as urinalysis, blood sugar, hematocrit.

Provide patient education for wellness.

Other duties as assigned.

High School High School/GED Required 1-3 years Preferred Annual Assessment - OHS Required Fit Test - OHS Required Completion with certification of a Medical Assistant training program.
Required Experience in and completion of an externship during study for Medical Assistant certification.
