Explore Career Pathways for Pharmacy Professionals: The pharmacy technician specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of technician specialty practice areas (billing, diversion, automation, medication history, and others).

Provides user support, perform maintenance activities and troubleshooting, monitor proper functionality, and ensure policies and procedures are both documented and followed.

Coordinates upgrade testing activities, education, and serves as the subject matter expert for the technician specialty practice area.

Does related work, as required and, under the supervision of a pharmacist, will assist in the technical, non-clinical aspects of preparing medications for dispensing, mixing IVs, managing inventory, and assist in pharmacy operations.

Job Requirements: High School graduate or GED.

Must have at least three years of previous hospital pharmacy technician experience (inclusive of training programs).

One year of experience with an identified specialty system/process.

Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy, if required by the state of employment.

National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT).

BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements: Associates/bachelor's degree.

PTCB/ASHP Specialty Credentials (applicable to the specialty practice area).

Requirements

Candidates must be a high school graduate with at least three years of hospital pharmacy technician experience and a CPhT certification. BLS certification is required within 14 days of hire, and an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred.
