Blank Children’s Hospital Blank Children's Hospital, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children.

Blank Children's is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their child's healing and recovery.

Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children.

Responsibilities

Provides routine care and management of hospitalized patients in the newborn nursery (level 1 and 2) at Methodist West and Trinity Fort Dodge, as well as inpatient pediatric coverage in both Des Moines and Trinity This position is a 1.0 FTE, requiring a 1840 hours per year, with a rotating schedule that includes a mix of day and night shifts. Specific locations depend on operational needs Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary Documents findings in accurate, systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR Utilizes data to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress, and design/implement initiatives which can make a positive impact on the care of newborn or inpatient pediatric patients Accepts responsibility to maintain and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical area of expertise - pediatrics and newborn care Provides specialty specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs, and in collaboration with the care team Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds

Qualifications

Requirements

Requires certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) and a current Iowa license for both RN and ARNP. NRP and PALS certifications and a valid driver's license are also required.
