About the role

The Physician Assistant will serve as a first assist in open-heart and thoracic surgical procedures and perform endoscopic vessel harvesting. They are also responsible for providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for patients in ICU and telemetry units.

Opportunity Information Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our well-established Cardiovascular Surgery team in Sacramento and Roseville, CA.

Key Responsibilities: First Assist: Support lead cardiothoracic surgeons in the OR during open-heart and thoracic surgical procedures (e.g., CABG).

Endoscopic Vessel Harvesting (EVH): Perform endoscopic vein/artery harvesting for graft preparation with precision and expertise.

Patient Management: Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care to cardiothoracic surgery patients in ICU and telemetry units.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and nursing staff to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate: Experience: Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery is required. Technical Skills: Proficient in EVH techniques and experienced as a first assist in complex cardiothoracic procedures. Critical Care Expertise: Strong background in managing ICU and telemetry patients before and after surgery.

Requirements
