The COTA provides therapeutic services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to improve residents' functional abilities and independence. Key duties include implementing individualized care plans, documenting progress, and educating families and caregivers on safety techniques.
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help residents improve functional abilities, independence, and quality of life.
Provide treatment interventions as outlined in the resident’s individualized OT plan of care. Assist in implementing therapeutic programs to improve ADLs, mobility, strength, coordination, and cognitive function. Document daily treatment notes, progress updates, and resident responses according to facility and regulatory standards. Collaborate with the occupational therapist, therapy staff, nursing team, and other interdisciplinary members to support resident goals. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, safety techniques, and functional strategies. Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations and professional standards.
Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of California. Graduate of an accredited COTA program. Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills. Prior SNF experience preferred but new grads are welcome to apply!
