The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in providing quality patient care through medication distribution and order processing. Responsibilities include delivering drugs to units, maintaining pharmacy logs, and assisting with inventory control.

Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician I assists the Pharmacist and other hospital staff in providing quality care to patients by applying knowledge and training of medication distribution. Reports to:

  • Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
  • Accurately process medication orders and requests, gather and dispense medications
  • Deliver drugs to assigned units
  • Maintain daily pharmacy logs
  • Assist in inventory control, answer phones, and other assigned duties by the Pharmacist and/or Pharmacy Supervisor
  • All other assigned duties related to Pharmacy Compliance
  • Education and Experience-
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the State of Texas Board of Pharmacy
  • Skills and Abilities-
  • Demonstrated combination of training and experience that requires concentration, accuracy, and discipline
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships Daily interaction with other staff within the Pharmacy department. Frequent contact with department nurses and leaders required for quality patient care

Physical Capabilities Work is of light demand; involves lots of walking on the health center campus. Must possess near visual acuity to read documents and computer records. Ability to lift up to 10pounds.

Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures. Hours of duty may be irregular to accommodate departmental requirements. Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the State of Texas Board of Pharmacy. The role requires strong concentration, accuracy, and basic knowledge of medical terminology.
