Provide one-on-one support to an individual with Rett Syndrome, assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, and community outings. Help the individual develop independent living skills and utilize assistive technology for communication.
We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal home.
Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care.
Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms.
Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping.
Paid trainings, including CPR/First Aid
DSP’s assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by:
·Assisting with participation and exploration of the community ·Cultivating and expanding independent living skills ·Assisting with development of meaningful and personal relationships ·Implementing strategies to achieve individuals’ personal goals
Eligible candidates must have a high school degree/GED and a current driver’s license with less than three points on their driving record.
The hours for this position: 36 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7:30a-7:30p Support staff needed to support a woman with Rett Syndrome in the Pikesville area.
I need assistance with personal care tasks and spending time in the community.
I need help with lifts, transfers, and mobility.
I like to spend time outside and visiting various places in my community.
I enjoy swimming and would love for someone to take me to the pool.
I do not talk to communicate, instead I use facial expressions, sounds, and gestures to show you how I am feeling or what I want.
I do have assistive technology that we can work with together to help me improve my communication.
Sometimes I cry and it may not be clear why, I need someone who will be patient and kind with me when I am feeling this way.
Staff should be dependable and reliable.
This position requires the use of personal vehicles to provide transportation within the community.
This position requires the use of a personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. A personal vehicle and cell phone are required for transportation and documentation purposes.
