About the role

The Patient Care Technician provides support to the patient care team by assisting with routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. They work closely with RNs, LPNs, and Physicians to facilitate the patient care process.

Highlights: Summary: The Patient Care Technician shall serve as a supportive member of the patient care team who will assist in routine and non-complex aspects of patient care. The PCT shall assist RNs, LPN's, and Physicians in the patient care process. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role. Education/Experience: High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate from a certified Nursing Assistant Program or a Health Occupations Program (HOSA) preferred. Completion of first clinical rotation as a Nurse Student (i.e. completion of ‘Nursing Fundamentals' course which includes assistance with Activities of Daily Living, vitals signs etc) or 1 year of experience in a patient care role in an acute care, nursing home or home care setting preferred. License/Certification: BLS required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort.

Medical terminology training preferred.

Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Work Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation. Requirements

A high school diploma is required, while completion of a CNA program, HOSA, or nursing fundamentals is preferred. BLS certification is mandatory for this role.
