About the role

Performs basic patient care, observes patient conditions, and assists in the implementation of nursing plans of care. Responsible for maintaining a clean, well-stocked patient environment and ensuring patient safety through proper equipment use.

Observes and reports abnormal occurrences or changes in patient condition.

Cleans, stocks and maintains supplies for the patient unit.

Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job.

The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Assists in the admission of patients to the unit to include orientation to the unit, hospital routine and patient care equipment Responds to needs of patients with direct assistance when able or by reporting patient needs to the appropriate person Assists with implementation of nursing plan of care by carrying out delegated patient care tasks Assists in maintaining patient safety to include the proper use of equipment and supplies Access to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items for patient care use Maintains a well-stocked, clean patient environment Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services Participates in educational and Performance Improvement activities Maintains (if needed) 4 of NAII skills per unit competency Performs waived testing per unit competency Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP) Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: High school graduate or equivalent required Nursing Assistant certification required Current registration with North Carolina Division of Facility Services Work Experience: None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Excellent guest relations skills Verbal and written skills required Ability to read English Ability to accept supervision from a multidisciplinary team Flexible in approach to work tasks and schedules Able to grasp new skills and techniques Has basic knowledge of age-specific considerations for patients served Has basic computer skills Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts Ability to turn and lift patients Much standing, walking, bending and lifting Possess visual and auditory acuity for observing patients Position involves exposure to blood and body secretions and may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material Must be able to lift 35 pounds Required Licenses and Certifications BLS - American Heart Association, CNA - NC Nursing Assistant Registry Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Nursing Assistant certification with registration in North Carolina. Must hold a current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
