General Purpose of Job: Operate Mammography equipment to produce diagnostic x-ray films as directed by physicians, and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices. Responsible for providing patient education and quality patient care. Essential Duties: This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position. Prepare patient and adjust equipment for taking x-rays. Position and instruct patient regarding procedures. Lead protective devices will be used to protect parts of the body not in the central ray and to reduce exposure to radiation. Use of immobilization devices in accordance with standard practice. (compression device). Maintain registry and evidence of continuing education as required by MDPH and ACR. Perform quality control and assurance reports as outlined in the State (MDPH) Mammography rules. Process images and use proper identification techniques so as to assure proper labeling. Log patient technical factors and pertinent information in various computer data bases. Maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Assist in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies. Keep work areas clean and document daily logs. Attend In-Service meetings and other meetings as required. Enhance professional growth through educational programs, conferences, workshops, etc. Perform general diagnostic x-ray exams as needed/assigned. Job Requirements General Requirements
Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and mammography.
Must be CPR certified.
Minimum of AHA Heart Saver certification or BLS required. Work Experience
Minimum two years radiography experience. Education
Associates Degree in Radiologic Sciences. Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Ability to make independent judgments regarding breast tissue anatomy and technique.
Ability to work at multiple locations.
Adept at customer service.
