The Laboratory Assistant will collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining accurate records and reports. They will perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on patients of all ages following sterile techniques.
Part-Time, Regular position at the Talihina Diabetic Wellness Center (DWC) | Schedule: Tues, Thurs, Fri 7a-5:30p, with additional hours to fill in as needed | Pay: Paygrade 8, Hourly, Depending on experience as a phlebotomist

As a Laboratory Assistant 2, you will collect and process patient specimens for lab testing. You will obtain and communicate appropriate information concerning patient specimens and reports. You will assist in the Phlebotomy department, You will report to department leadership.
1. Perform waived and moderate complex laboratory testing and reports results back to ordering provider.
2. Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages.
3. Follow sterile procedure appropriate technique and approved collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing.
4. Label specimens correctly and deliver to proper testing area.
5. Process sample for test analysis for waived and moderate tests.
6. Process all specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs.
7. Maintain laboratory report and files in orderly and proper condition.
8. You will perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience
· Advanced knowledge of laboratory procedures and systems
· Two [2] years of laboratory experience
