About the role

The Critical Care Technician provides delegated age-appropriate care and assists patients with basic nursing and personal care tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. They are also responsible for performing continuous safety observations and executing duties as assigned within the Critical Care Unit.

  • Summary: The Critical Care Technician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides delegated age appropriate care in a culturally and ethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assists patients with the tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessment related to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorative services, and necessary critical care skills.. The CCT practices and performs what was taught during their CNA training and certification or learned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school for professional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safety observation. This job reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty on each assigned shift. Other duties as assigned.

  • REQUIRED: State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required, otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and able to provide documentation from an accredited school for professional nurses indicating successful completion of the basic nursing course which encompass all of the criteria noted by the State of Wisconsin administrative code and a minimum experience of one acute care medical/surgical clinical rotation. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification or be enrolled in a nursing program with a completed acute care clinical rotation. Additionally, completion of a Critical Care Tech course is required within six months of hire, and AHA Basic Life Support certification is required within 90 days.
