About the role

The technologist will calculate and administer radioactive materials for diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures. They will also assist in patient preparation, obtain blood samples, and contribute to the development of new diagnostic procedures.

  • Summary: Provides technical assistance in nuclear medicine by calculating and administering radioactive materials for therapeutic and diagnostic imaging, assists in preparation for examination, obtains blood samples, instructs students and assists in development of new diagnostic procedures. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical staff, staff, students, and patients. Other duties as assigned.

  • DESCRIPTION: SPECT imaging experience and basic knowledge of NRC/Agreement State requirements is required.
  • Education
  • DESCRIPTION: Graduate from an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology is required. Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology preferred.

  • SKILLS
  • DESCRIPTION: Ability and demonstrated competence in IV insertion. Must have comprehensive knowledge of nuclear medicine exams including but not limited to techniques, principles, equipment, and rationale behind the procedures performed in the department.
  • Licensure
  • DESCRIPTION: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-(N) Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT-N) certification is required within six months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within three months of hire/transfer date. Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program and possess or be eligible for NMTCB or ARRT-N certification. Proficiency in IV insertion and knowledge of NRC/Agreement State requirements are mandatory.
