The Multi Skilled Tech plays an important role in supporting both the clinical and administrative operations of the practice. Working under the direction of the Practice Manager, this position performs a variety of clinical, secretarial, and general office duties while assisting with the established plan of care. The Multi Skilled Tech provides support to patients across all ages and developmental needs while helping maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming environment.

  • Tech who excels in this role: · Greets patients during check-in and check-out while providing excellent customer service and completing patient registration. · Collects, receipts, and posts patient co-pays; prepares audit journals, balances daily receipts, and assists with daily deposits. · Obtains and verifies insurance, demographic, financial, and consent information during registration and updates information as necessary. · Obtains copies of insurance cards and insurance authorizations for treatment visits as needed. · Schedules patient appointments and assists the Practice Manager with coordination of provider schedules. · Answers incoming telephone calls courteously, provides appropriate information and patient education as needed, accurately documents messages, and routes them to the appropriate staff members. · Performs clinical duties that may include administering injections and monitoring vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight. · Reviews schedules and assists with organizing patient flow throughout the practice. · Collects patient information and medical history, reviews current medication lists, and updates information in the electronic medical record as needed. · Obtains laboratory and X-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and other necessary medical documentation and appropriately scans and links information within the patient chart. · Transcribes orders and referrals from outside physicians and schedules testing as needed. · Assists with patient assessments and participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patients, families, and caregivers. · Reinforces patient and family education based on individual needs and age-specific competencies. · Administers medications according to established policies and procedures. · Implements physician orders and follows the established plan of care. · Provides direct patient care in a personalized and efficient manner while respecting spiritual and cultural differences. · Reports changes in patient status, refers concerns when necessary, and anticipates situations that may prevent or minimize adverse or less-than-optimal outcomes. · Collaborates effectively with physicians and other members of the healthcare team. · Assists physicians and other clinical staff as needed. · Sends and receives faxes, mail, medical records, reports, laboratory results, and other clinical documentation and distributes information appropriately. · Scans dictation, medical records, reports, laboratory results, and other documentation into patient charts and copies records as requested. · Manages incoming and outgoing medical record requests and serves as a point of contact regarding release requests. · Performs secretarial and general office duties for medical and administrative staff. · Maintains proficiency in computer applications utilized by the department. · Understands and communicates resident and physician on-call schedules. · Maintains office equipment in good operational condition and manages inventory of front-office supplies. · Identifies opportunities for cost containment by appropriately monitoring supplies and equipment. · Promotes an environment conducive to employee and patient safety. · Maintains strict confidentiality related to medical records, patients, and other sensitive information. · Attends required in-service education and staff meetings. · Remains flexible with workload, schedule, and work location to meet department volume and operational needs. · Complies with all Conemaugh Health System policies and procedures. · Assists front-office and nursing staff as needed and performs other responsibilities as assigned within the scope of qualifications.   • Development: Ongoing learning and career advancement opportunities. What we’re looking for Applicants should be graduates of an approved Medical Office Assistant Program or CNA Program, or possess appropriate on-the-job training in a medical office setting.
  • Additional requirements include: · One to two years of experience in a physician office setting. · Strong clinical skills. · Proficiency with medical terminology. · Excellent typing and computer skills. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. · Ability to interact courteously and cooperatively with patients and visitors ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations. · Ability to follow hospital and departmental policies and procedures. · Ability to work independently, remain flexible, and effectively prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
