About the role

The coordinator serves as a role model for residents, ensuring a safe and positive environment while contributing to the formulation and implementation of individual treatment plans. They also assist with staff supervision, documentation coordination, and the maintenance of normative culture within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting.
  • Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties.
  • In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges.
  • Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities.
  • We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education.
  • We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.

  • Scope: Serves as a role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors. Ensures environment remains safe and normative culture remains positive throughout facility. Contributes to formulation, implementation and revision of the resident individual treatment plan.

  • High school education required. Bachelor’s minimum or a certificate from a trade school in nursing would be more appropriate with the need to have familiarity with medical terminology Secretarial or clerical training in a hospital setting preferred.

Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm. Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions. Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning. Requires secretarial skills, organizational ability and verbal communicative skills; some knowledge of medical terminology.
