The Family Therapist provides family therapy services to clients receiving residential behavioral health treatment while working closely with parents, guardians, and support systems to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and promote successful long-term recovery. This clinician serves as a vital member of the treatment team by conducting family sessions, participating in treatment planning, providing psychoeducation, and helping families develop healthy patterns that support continued progress after discharge. The Family Therapist also plays a key role in developing and facilitating Family Weekend programming, providing both clinical and experiential interventions designed to repair family dynamics and strengthen the recovery process. What You'll Do Provide family therapy services using evidence-based treatment approaches. Conduct family assessments and evaluate relational dynamics affecting treatment. Collaborate with clients, families, case managers, and the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participate in treatment planning and ongoing clinical case reviews. Facilitate psychoeducation for families regarding mental health, substance use, communication, boundaries, and recovery. Develop individualized therapeutic interventions that support successful reunification and discharge planning. Help coordinate and facilitate monthly Family Weekend programming. Provide individual therapy when clinically appropriate. Assist with therapeutic group facilitation as needed. Provide crisis intervention and family support during periods of clinical instability. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation. Communicate significant clinical concerns promptly to the Clinical Director. Our Clients May Present With The Family Therapist will work with clients experiencing a variety of behavioral health challenges, including: Depression Anxiety Disorders Trauma and PTSD Mood Disorders Bipolar Disorder Emotional Dysregulation Self-Harm Behaviors Suicidal Ideation Aggression Substance Use Disorders Family Conflict Co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders
Education Master's Degree in: Marriage & Family Therapy Counseling Clinical Mental Health Counseling Social Work Psychology Behavioral Health Closely related behavioral health field Licensure Georgia licensed or license-eligible as one of the following: LMFT (Preferred) LPC APC LCSW LMSW Associate-level clinicians actively working toward independent licensure are encouraged to apply. Experience Experience providing family therapy required. Residential behavioral health, psychiatric, or substance use treatment experience preferred. Experience working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness, trauma, or co-occurring disorders preferred. Strong understanding of family systems, attachment, and trauma-informed care. Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups is a plus.
