Position Summary

The Provider Medical Assistant is responsible for a range of administrative tasks, assisting with patient care, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. They will be the primary point of contact between the client, providers, and third parties such as pharmacies, laboratories, and other facilities.

Responsiblities

Greet and check-in patients prior to appointments.

Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, schedule/confirm appointments.

Maintain and request patient records, ensuring confidentiality.

Process patient payments and insurance authorizations.

Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.

Prepare examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.

Take and record patient vital signs and blood glucose levels when requested.

Administer and/or observe self-administration of medications and administer injections as directed by healthcare providers.

Perform basic laboratory tests and phlebotomy procedures, including collecting samples/specimens.

Provide patient education and support.

Serve as the primary contact between the patient, provider, and third parties.

Conduct medication room audits in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

Ensure proper documentation within client charts.

Attend all required meetings and participate appropriately.

Perform other duties as assigned within the limits of licensing.

Qualifications: And requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant program

Experience

  • Previous experience in a medical office, residential treatment facility, hospital, or outpatient clinic setting preferred
  • Proficiency in medical software and electronic health records (EHR)

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations

  • Active Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Valid drivers license, insurance, and 5 years’ driving experience required
