About the role

The LVN provides acute nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse while ensuring accurate documentation and implementation of medical orders. They are responsible for maintaining patient safety, infection control standards, and providing education to patients and their families.

Overview This position is responsible for providing acute nursing patient care in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in compliance with the LVN Practice Act.

Additional responsibilities include collecting patient information, timely and complete documentation of patient care and implementation of assigned tasks, medical orders and plan of care.

Integrates patient care standards into all patient care activities.

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center and AHMC Inc.

It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of AHMC- ARMC and AHMC Inc.

The employee shall support AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.

The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and AHMC Inc initiatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions Consistently applies infection control policies/practices. Meets population/age specific competencies. Attends department specific education/training, inservices, and staff meetings. Department specific performance improvement project. Provides for psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients, family, and others. Provides for the education of patients, family, and others. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently provide care in emergency situations. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently administer medications, intravenous therapy, etc. Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties/responsibilities related to patient care. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently use equipment, supplies and perform therapeutic/ diagnostic interventions.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience Graduate of an LVN School of Nursing. One year acute care experience as an LVN in Medical Surgical Services required. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an employee with strong education and associated experiential background and/or work history. Basic Arrhythmia Licenses/Certifications Current CA LVN license Current Healthcare Provider BLS Current Healthcare Provider ACLS NIHSS IV certification Phlebotomy certification EKG Certification MAB (for ED) Hospital Description Organizational Expectations Meets customer service expectations and AHMC Inc Activities. Promotes a service culture – AHMC- ARMC Customer Service Standards. Demonstrates the customer satisfaction standards set for the institution. Actively participates in ways to prevent customer complaints and dissatisfaction with services. Focuses attention and actions on what is best for the patient or customer. Attempts to identify all customer needs and tries to meet and/or exceed expectations. Interacts with all customers in a caring manner. Contact with others is polite and proactive. Promotes a positive teamwork environment. Creates closure after interactions. Communicates effectively in a positive, respectful and concise manner.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an LVN School of Nursing and possess at least one year of acute care experience in Medical Surgical Services. Required certifications include a current CA LVN license, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, IV certification, Phlebotomy certification, and EKG certification.
