About the role

The Medical Assistant will perform clinical duties including taking patient vitals, assisting physicians with exams, and managing patient flow. They are also responsible for maintaining exam room cleanliness, managing supply inventory, and documenting patient encounters in the EMR.

Description SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that results in safe, courteous and competent patient care. The Medical Assistant must work collaboratively with other internal and external departments, in support of direct patient services, exhibiting flexibility and a “can-do” attitude, and fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the practice and provide care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations

Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

· Escort patients to exam rooms · Take patient vitals · Assist physicians with patient exams, as needed · Perform all tests and as ordered · File/retrieve procedure and diagnostic reports · Maintain all necessary documentation for patient encounters within the electronic medical record · Escort patients to Check-Out Representative for bill payment and scheduling · Ensure efficient use of physician's time through effective patient flow and preliminary work-ups · Act as Patient Flow Coordinator to and from exam and waiting areas · Maintain supply inventory in exam rooms · Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms · Answer phone calls incoming to the clinic by patients and send each provider/MA/Nurse messages via EMR about patients’ needs or concerns. · Return calls to patients with the answer to concerns/questions/requests per direction for provider. · Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS · Medical Assistant certification · Good interpersonal skills · Experience and/or training in medical terminology, medical coding · Clinical experience desired with EKG, blood pressure, etc. BLS certification
