Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret routine and specialized tests across Blood Bank, Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology; prepare and handle specimens; report results accurately.
  • Operate and troubleshoot instruments such as the Siemens Aptio Line, Siemens Atellica, Sysmex XN-9000, Sysmex UN3000 or Iris; conduct instrument QC and maintenance per SOPs.
  • Manage EMR workflows in Epic and Sunquest Blood Bank modules; document results, flag critical values, and ensure proper specimen labeling and chain-of-custody.
  • Maintain patient safety and quality control; follow laboratory safety policies, HIPAA regulations, and regulatory requirements; participate in proficiency testing and incident reporting.
  • No routine floating outside of the laboratory, but personnel are responsible for Blood Bank, Hematology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Gram stains as part of daily duties.

Requirements

  • Montana Medical Technologist license (active)
  • CLS or MLT credentialed by ASCP or AMT
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Experience with EMR systems such as Epic and Sunquest Blood Bank is preferred
  • Ability to work a rotating 8x5 schedule with potential 10-hour shifts; 40 hours per week
  • Within 200 miles of Helena, MT, or able to travel within that radius per program requirements
