Responsibilities

  • Circulate in the Operating Room during surgical procedures; assist surgeons and anesthesia; coordinate flow of equipment, supplies, and staff
  • Maintain aseptic technique and patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning, and participate in pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care planning per department criteria
  • Safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials; operate and troubleshoot typical OR equipment as trained
  • Access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent patient data and document care

Requirements

  • Active RN license in the state of practice (California) — Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — Required
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • One year of prior full-time operating room experience — Required
  • At least two years of recent nursing experience in the field — Required
  • PALS certification and CNOR designation preferred
