The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Outreach Specialist 3 to work at the UHealth campus in Miami, Fl. CORE JOB SUMMARY The Outreach Specialist 3 supports in developing and implementing new and existing public education and outreach programs, serving as a liaison to the community. The incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and effectiveness. Moreover, the incumbent utilizes project management skills to organize community outreach activities. The Outreach Specialist 3 serves as a lead when the Director is unavailable.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports in the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs. Works with community-based organizations to plan promotional educational and other events targeted towards designing an increased awareness in the community.
  • Assists in publishing activities: writing, editing, budgeting, scheduling, and distribution. Interacts effectively with outside advertising agencies, printers, photographers, and other vendors. Aids with the preparation and distribution of public health education and navigation manuals. Identifies effective strategies for promoting enrollment in ongoing studies, conducting active and passive recruitment, in-person, and online outreach. Conducts brief surveys by phone and in community settings. Aids with compiling data for presentations. Develops professional relationships with mental health providers, researchers, and community members. Collaborates with other members of the team on special projects and events. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Works closely with manager to strategically plan and coordinate outreach within the community. Provides culturally appropriate health information on cancer screenings. Assists individuals in accessing and scheduling cancer screenings and follow-up care. Develops strategies to improve screening rates in underserved communities. Manages health fairs and screening events and distributes educational materials and completes screenings. Documents interactions and maintain accurate records of outreach efforts. Collaborates with other community organizations to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational goals. Assists with the coordination and planning of special projects and events. Conducts brief surveys by phone and in the community setting to support outreach efforts. Participates in meetings with team leads to identify and provide input on outreach goals and strategies to meet community needs for cancer screening and prevention. Develops and maintains relationships with key community organizations, partners and stakeholders. Leads outreach events and partner meetings. Provide input in the development of flyers, brochures and other informational education to targeted communities. Promotes events by distributing materials throughout the community. Registers patients in the electronic medical record and documents all interactions efficiently. Conducts screening and prevention events in the community to include phlebotomy when appropriate. Upkeep of sample pick-ups and delivery. Submits event documentation following all community events and meetings in a timely fashion. Contacts patients with results following screenings and navigates individuals to follow up care as necessary. Follows departmental policies and procedures, including but not limited to pre/post event vehicle inspection forms when assigned as a driver. Ensures vehicles are equipped with all necessary equipment and supplies and requests replacement as needed. Requirements
