  • Administration:Coordinate and administer therapeutic IV treatments and infusions, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, and supportive care agents, following established protocols and guidelines.Monitor patients closely during infusion treatments, promptly addressing and managing any complications or adverse reactions.Manage complications associated with infusion therapies, such as adverse reactions or infusion site issues.Demonstrate expertise in the insertion, care, and maintenance of intravenous (IV) lines and central venous devices.Ensure compliance with infection control practices and standards in the management of vascular access devices.Complete ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within the first year of employment.Maintain AHA BLS certification.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.

Experience

Prior experience in oncology nursing and infusion therapy preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

  • Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after infusion therapy to evaluate their overall health and response to treatment. Provide thorough education to patients and their caregivers on the purpose of infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self-care measures. Work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive education and proper resources tailored to their care needs.

Monitor pertinent lab results to assess patients' eligibility and qualification for specific therapies, collaborating with the provider to adjust treatment plans accordingly. Maintain certifications on all lab equipment to perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing for quick turnaround of CBCs, INRs, urinalysis testing, and blood glucose testing. Demonstrate expertise in conducting POC testing, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results for immediate clinical decision-making. Uphold quality control measures and adhere to regulatory standards in performing POC testing.

Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Provides care that is appropriate for specific age groups. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

The base compensation range for this role is $32.69 - $54.54 hourly.

Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited School of Nursing and maintain AHA BLS certification. Prior experience in oncology nursing and infusion therapy is preferred, along with ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification.
