The Central Core Technician supports the intraoperative team by ensuring the timely availability of sterile supplies and instrumentation for surgeries. They are also responsible for maintaining sterilizers, documenting logs, and upholding strict infection control standards within the operating environment.

One California Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Central Core Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the intraoperative team by ensuring the timely availability of sterile supplies and instrumentation for procedures performed in the Operating Room (OR).

In this position, you will be responsible for communicating and coordinating between Central Sterilization and Surgery, as well as performing various tasks that expedite intraoperative care, including running errands and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.In addition, your responsibilities will include maintaining sterilizers, accurately documenting logs, and performing routine cleaning to uphold infection control standards.

You will also be tasked with providing age-appropriate supplies for patients spanning the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.Upholding patient confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures is integral to this role.

Your dedication to quality, attention to detail, and collaborative approach will help ensure a safe and efficient operating environment for both patients and staff.

Maintains a safe, therapeutic work environment at all times and identifies and addresses problems to the appropriate departments.

Adheres to the principles of infection control, including medical and surgical asepsis and isolation techniques.

Demonstrates aseptic technique when required in the performance of job duties.

Understands and assures patient safety initiatives, not limited to: a.

Assures all equipment is functioning before use.

Communication

Communicates appropriately and clearly to the department manager, vendors, nursing staff , physicians and co-workers and other customers. Works to maintain a pleasant work environment for co-workers, patients and visitors.

Development: Completes yearly goals that promote unit and personal growth. Actively participates in evaluation of learning needs and addresses them. Attends staff meetings and in services at least 80% of the time, maintains BCLS, unit and facility competencies, and TB skin test. Demonstrates awareness of professional responsibility by being a role model for peers while maintaining practice within The Patient's Bill of Rights and Dignity Health Core Values. Adheres to Dignity Health standards and Behaviors by promoting teamwork and a positive work environment, model cooperative behavior and act in a professional manner and uses effective lines of communication. Participates in problem solving processes in which unit based problems are identified and a plan is made and implemented for correction. Functions as an effective resource for peers and other staff. Contributes to cost effectiveness by adhering to staffing patterns and appropriate utilization of other resources. Adapts well to changes, seeks clarification when necessary. Participates in the precepting of new staff members. Develop, maintain and improve skills specific to job role. Actively participates in setting personal goals annually and submits plan to attaining goals. Attends 50% or more of team meetings and all mandatory in services. Follows policies with regard to tardiness, attendance, dress code and use of time. Plans and prepares for assigned cases by, but not limited to, reviewing assignments upon arrival, reviewing pertinent literature, preference cards, manufacturer information, discussing with company representative, discussing with surgeon and by collaborating with knowledgeable peers. Making sure all supplies and equipment are available for assigned cases. Job Requirements Required High School Graduate General Studies or 3 years equivalent work experience in Sterile Processing or Surgery., upon hire or High School GED General Studies or 3 years equivalent work experience in sterile processing or Surgery., upon hire and Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, within 12 - months and Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire Preferred Surgical scrubbing experience

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, or three years of equivalent work experience in sterile processing or surgery. Additionally, the role requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire and the attainment of a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification within 12 months.
