The Respiratory Care Practitioner provides direct patient care, including mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary hygiene. They also document patient status, participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams, and act as a preceptor for novice therapists.
The RCP performs the functions of a respiratory care practitioner in direct care. This position utilizes the respiratory care process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care and works effectively with members of the health care team, including the family in the provision of care to patients. Candidates must hold an Associate's degree, an active Texas RRT license, and an RCP license. At least two years of relevant professional experience is required, along with BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
