Summary

Assist with performing stress tests (treadmills, nuclear stress tests, and stress echoes) under the direction of an advanced practice provider for both outpatients and inpatients. Position Reports To: Practice Manager

Essential Functions

Perform stress tests under supervision of Advanced Practice Provider.

Explains purpose and procedure of stress test to patient.

Patient preparation for testing which includes set up of modified 12 lead EKG and continuous monitoring throughout entirety of test with rhythm identification and interpretation.

Maintain/clean stress test machines and equipment.

Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise with stress testing equipment.

Order supplies/medications.

Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are based on specific instructions, standard practices and established procedures which generally require little or no supervision.

Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Independence of Action: Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided.

Work is monitored by supervisor/manager.

Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.

Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

Knowledge

Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

Team

Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services.

Customer

Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.

Qualifications

Required

High school graduate or GED. Accredited Medical Assisting program graduate. Active Medical Assistant - Certified license through the Washington State Department of Health. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (within 90 days of hire).

Desired

Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting. Basic computer skills. Basic knowledge of cardiac rhythms.

  • Conditions: Work is performed at a work station and in patient exam rooms, where space may be limited and confined. Requires a combination of working closely with others. Hours may be irregular at times; overtime may be required. Requires working under stressful conditions. General supervision is provided by the Practice Manager with additional instructions, guidance, and directions provided by the providers with whom the Medical Assistant is working.

Requirements
