About the role

The Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients according to physician orders. They are also responsible for operating and maintaining respiratory care equipment while ensuring patient safety and welfare.

Job Overview

Fairview is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to join our Respiratory Therapy team at our St.

Johns Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.

This position includes a $10,500 sign on bonus!

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as prescribed by a physician.

Follows defined treatment protocol according to department policies.

Collects, assesses, interprets, and intervenes as appropriate in the care of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.

Ensures patient welfare and safety standards during treatments.

Schedule

This position will be working 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on Evenings, including every other weekend.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for: Assessing patient needs and identifies expected outcomes. Implementing Respiratory interventions based on plan of care. Evaluating care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes. Delivering care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient. Operating and maintaining all Respiratory Care equipment.

  • Required Qualifications A.A./A.S. in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field Respiratory Therapist License issued by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Exceptions include: New Graduates must complete their Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 6 months of hire.
  • Those with Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) must have 3 or more years of respiratory therapist experience in a clinical setting.
  • Respiratory Therapists working at M Health Fairview Facilities - supplemented by defined contract staffing agency – temporary.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (American Heart Assoc) at Lakes, Northland, Ridges, UMMCH, Southdale, Woodwinds and St.
  • Johns within 180 Days Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) at Lakes, Northland, Ridges, Southdale, Woodwinds, St.
  • Johns, Bethesda and UMMC within 180 Days

Preferred Qualifications

B.S./B.A. in Respiratory Care/Therapy or related field experience 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience in a clinical setting

Requirements

Candidates must hold an A.A./A.S. in Respiratory Care or a related field and possess a valid Minnesota Respiratory Therapist license. Additionally, the role requires RRT certification from the NBRC and current BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications.
