About the role

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for filling medication orders, including sterile intravenous admixtures, and maintaining pharmacy inventory. They also perform record-keeping functions and assist patients and staff at the pharmacy window.

Troy - Part time, 24 hours per week, rotating shift About Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital In response to the health care needs of a growing community, in 1977, Corewell opened a new 189-bed hospital on rural farmland in Troy.

Today, Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital has grown to 530 licensed beds and offers a comprehensive array of health care services, continuing to develop to meet the needs of the growing communities it serves.

Scope of work Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.

Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.

Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.

Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.

Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.

Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.

Performs necessary record keeping functions.

Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.

May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.

Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.

Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures

Qualifications

High school diploma program or GED. Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and hold a valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern license. Experience with sterile compounding or completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program is required.
