About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide patient-centered care within the Observation and Med/Surg unit, managing clinical practice for patients with complex medical and mental health conditions. Responsibilities include delivering care for general surgery, acute care surgery, neurosurgery, urology, and cardiac telemetry patients.

Regions Hospital is looking to hire an exceptional, patient focused Registered Nurse to join our Observation & Med/Surg Unit and make a difference for our patients and our community.

W2 is a 22-bed capacity med-surg/telemetry unit focused on short stay medical-surgical observation as well as extended recovery patients. This includes general surgery, acute care surgery, neurosurgery, urology, cardiac telemetry and post procedural care. Nurses who wish to work on this unit must develop clinical and compassionate practices in the care of patients with complex medical and mental health conditions.

As a nursing professional you will be empowered to manage your clinical practice and working environment through our Shared Governance Model, which focuses on evidence-based nursing practice.

Regions Hospital supports nurses with an individualized orientation including Transition to Regions Hospital Practice program which is a nurse residency structured program to support learning, role transition, and retention of nurses.

All new hire registered nurses at Regions Hospital will be automatically enrolled.

Work Schedule

0.70 Nights. Mix of 8 and 12 hour shifts. Every 3rd weekend rotation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or Associate Degree in Nursing and 1 year of RN experience
  • Internal new graduate applicants can meet minimum requirements with an Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota
  • CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and strong ability to work with a wide range of patients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN/MSN strongly preferred and generally expected that BSN/MSN is obtained within 5 years of hire
  • One year of acute care RN experience is preferred

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing with at least one year of RN experience. Required credentials include a Minnesota RN license and BLS or CPR certification for healthcare providers.
