The Medical Assistant supports the ambulatory care team by welcoming patients, recording vital signs, and assisting providers during medical exams and procedures. During training and orientation would like new hire to work minimum 3 days per week to allow adequate time.

  • Schedule: Schedules and locations may vary according to need. Currently we do not have hours on Saturdays or Sundays. Hours can be as early as 7 a.m. to as late as 7 pm. As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.
  • As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will: Welcome patients and support their transition into care. Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings. Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures. Administer medications and vaccines as directed. Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing. Document care accurately in the electronic health record. Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

  • Locations: This position will help support coverage for 8 physicians across 5 sites for scheduled PTO and urgent call off needs. Elmhurst is the main location. The other locations are two Downers Grove, Westmont, and Naperville. Your feedback matters. Every teammate’s voice is vital in shaping our culture and improving care. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions. Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed. May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing may be required. Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.

Requirements

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED along with a medical assistant diploma or at least 2 years of relevant experience. Certification as a Medical Assistant is also accepted if accompanied by 2 years of experience.
