About the role

The Registered Nurse provides safe, therapeutic care to pediatric patients in the infusion center, including administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, and blood transfusions. They function as a member of the interdisciplinary team, managing patient care and serving as a clinical resource and leader.

The BCH Oakland Infusion Center serves the Pediatric Specialty population at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. The treatments include, but are not limited to, apheresis, chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration and electrolyte therapy, injections and blood draws, enzymes and iron infusions, and antibiotics. The center consists of 14 chairs/beds and treatments include research and standard of care infusions. The infusion centers are staffed by Nurses, Medical Assistant, and a Practice Coordinator.

This position requires the incumbent to utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care.

Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with complex needs.

Manages patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Recognized as a leader and clinical resource.

Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the practice and the organization.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least two years of pediatric nursing experience, including one year in oncology or relevant clinical experience, and one year of outpatient infusion experience. A current California Registered Nurse license and American Heart Association CPR certification are required.
