Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Phlebotomist, you will help the Laboratory obtain and/or prepare specimens for analysis so they can provide accurate laboratory services vital for outpatient, inpatient, surgery, and emergency department patients. Every day you will work under the direct supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, obtaining and/or preparing specimens for analysis. You will be expected to use a state-of-the-art wireless handheld computer to ensure patient safety and actively participate in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. To be successful in this role, you must be a dynamic Phlebotomist who is passionate about the health and well-being of our patients and have completed an accredited phlebotomy program (with national certification being preferred). Collect or receive samples of fluids or tissues. Determine if the quality and quantity are sufficient for testing. Use the lab equipment or chemicals to prepare the samples for testing. Perform the required tests on the samples. Keep accurate records. Label the specimens appropriately and send them to other departments as needed. Clean and maintain the lab equipment and the lab area throughout each shift. Run periodic quality control procedures on the equipment, under your supervisor’s guidance. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Be respectful, kind and helpful to your colleagues as we work together to create a productive lab environment. Job Requirements Required High School diploma or equivalent American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CT CPRBLS) Preferred Previous experience in a health-related field Phlebotomy Cert

Requirements

Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and hold an American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program is required, with national certification preferred.
