  • Join us at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital where we have been providing world-class care to our community for over 100 years. Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. They provide technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as acquiring all imaging and post processing of images. In this role, you will help patients get back on the road to wellness through these minimally invasive procedures that allow for a faster recovery time. A caregiver in this role days from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with on-call requirements, including rotating evening, weekend, and holiday coverage. The call rotation is typically every 6th or 7th weekend and one night per every two weeks. Caregivers must be able to arrive at Akron General within 30 minutes when on call. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams. Set-up or operate injectors to administer contrast agents for procedures. Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized. Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures. Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects. Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information. Monitor equipment and systems, clean equipment, and effect timely repair. Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.

Minimum Qualifications

for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist (RL) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams

Preferred Qualifications

for the ideal future caregiver include: One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography: R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology: R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) Previous experience in a high-volume angiography department Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
