The Peer Specialist will provide direct recovery-focused services as part of a mobile, multi-disciplinary team for individuals with severe mental illness involved in the criminal justice system. Responsibilities include teaching life skills, preventing relapse, and connecting clients with essential community resources.

RiseWell Community Services is seeking a Full-time Peer Specialist to join the Forensic Assertive Treatment Program in Queens, NY.

In this role, you will supervise and provide direct services with a focus on recovery on a mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team for persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Our Forensic Assertive Community Treatment teams provide a full suite of treatment to individuals in recovery from serious mental illness and involved in the criminal justice system. FACT services aim to prevent relapse, teach valuable life skills, provide assistance, and connect individuals with essential resources so they can focus on stabilization and thrive in the community. As a part of our FACT team, you’ll be working as a collaborative, mobile, multi-disciplinary treatment team, both in the office and in the community.

Qualifications

Lived experience relevant to the client population. Current NYS license as a Peer Specialist and/or Youth Peer Advocate. A valid and clean New York State driver's license. Minimum 1 year of experience in a treatment or rehabilitation setting. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from the NYS Office of Mental Health.

Requirements

Candidates must have lived experience relevant to the client population and a current NYS license as a Peer Specialist or Youth Peer Advocate. A valid, clean NYS driver's license and at least one year of experience in a treatment or rehabilitation setting are also required.
