About the role

The Respiratory Therapist assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates respiratory care for inpatients and outpatients of all ages. They work within a collaborative healthcare team to provide exceptional patient care using advanced medical technology.

Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the care given to inpatients and outpatients to patients of all age populations at Piedmont Medical Center requiring respiratory therapy services.

Responsibilities

Performs all aspects of respiratory care to include diagnostic test of the cardio-pulmonary system performs quality control on all respiratory care equipment to include I-STAT blood gas analyzers Provides respiratory care to patients. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Education: Graduate of Accredited and Approved Respiratory Care Technician or Therapist program Associate degree required. Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: Current Respiratory Therapy Licensure through South Carolina Medical Examiner’s office. CRTT required (Verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). American Heart Association BLS CPR required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire. American Heart Association PALS and ACLS certifications required within orientation period. NRP certification required for NICU trained therapists Preferred: Experience: 2 to 5 years of job-related experience preferred. Certifications/Registrations/Licenses: RRT preferred (Verified by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Requirements

Candidates must hold an associate degree and be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program. Current South Carolina licensure, CRTT certification, and American Heart Association BLS are required, with additional certifications like ACLS, PALS, and NRP required based on unit needs.
