  • Job Summary A Peer Coach works as a mentor, guide, and resource broker to ensure individuals are receiving and connecting to all resources available within their community.
  • This is a person who has experience receiving services and/or supports for a substance use.
  • Description of responsibilities: 1.
  • Provide direct services to individuals as assigned.
  • 2.
  • Ensures assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with funding source standards and CARE of SEM policy and procedures.
  • 3.
  • Demonstrates in practice there are multiple pathways to recovery.
  • 4.
  • Facilitate timely referral and placements from hospital to treatment/recovery support providers.
  • 5.
  • Documents information for established metrics and outcomes as required.
  • 6.
  • Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including evening and weekends.

Required experience

1. Must be in long term recovery from a substance use disorder for at least four consecutive years. 2. One year of peer coaching or related experience preferred.

Required skills / education

  • 1. High school Diploma or graduate equivalent degree required 2.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain both certifications: 1. Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) 2. Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) or have an active development plan through MCBAP and timely completion. 3. Must have or be willing to obtain certificate of completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery Coach Academy, including ethics.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least four consecutive years of long-term recovery from a substance use disorder and a high school diploma. Applicants are required to hold or be willing to obtain Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) and Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) certifications.
