About the role

The CT Technologist performs routine and specialized diagnostic CT exams while ensuring patient safety and minimizing radiation exposure. They also manage department protocols, maintain equipment, and act as a resource for clinic staff to ensure smooth department operations.

Description Essential Functions Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the operation of all CT equipment to achieve high quality diagnostic exams.

Stay aware of latest advances in CT technology.

Maintain knowledge of location and proper use of emergency equipment and ancillary equipment.

Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession.

Uses equipment and accessories, employs techniques and procedures, performs services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice, and demonstrates expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self, and other members of the healthcare team.

Practices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipment and accessories consistent with purposes for which they were designed, and employs procedures and techniques appropriately Delivers patient care and service unrestricted by the concerns of personal attributes or the nature of the disease or illness, and without discrimination based on sex, race, creed, religion, or socio-economic status.

Ability to administer Basic Life Support and first aid in emergency situations.

Basic IV skills.

Fundamental understanding of Computed Tomography and use of required equipment including Power injectors and post processing software.

Possess advanced knowledge of physiology and cross-sectional anatomy.

Has basic IV skills.

Basic knowledge of Post processing software.

Independently scans routine and specialized exams, including: Routine: CT Calcium Score, CTA Head/Neck, CTA Chest R/O PE, CTA Abdomen Pelvis, CTA Runoff.

Specialized

  • CTA Coronary, CTA TAVI, CTA TAA, CTA Ablation/Watchman, CTA Upper Extremity, Virtual Colon, Rectal Contrast Must demonstrate competency and perform all 7 specialized exams above routinely. Shows competency with CT Department protocols including scheduling, Oral /IV contrast, Allergic reactions, premedication’s, IV infiltrates, etc.
  • Fills vital role to keep department running smoothly, including: Ordering supplies for site, Building protocols. Collecting LDCT Data for Registry. Providing Virtual Colon Preparation. Reviewing Virtual Colon request Approves and schedules CT exams per department protocol. Has the ability to perform basic reformats on CT scanner. Ability to change scanning protocol per patient exam needs resulting in diagnostic imaging. Produces quality diagnostic images. Basic knowledge of CT Department protocols. Takes initiative to keep patient flow moving throughout department. Fills in as Lead CT tech when needed. Fills a Vital role at their location, being a resource to clinic staff and technologist.

Requirements

Required Education and Experience ARRT (CT) certification 6+ years of CT experience as a staff CT Technologist performing and post processing CTA and other specialty exams. Satisfactory completion of AMA accredited program. Additional Eligibility Qualification Other Requirements: ARRT certification in CT and RT. Current certification with State of Florida Radiation Control (HRS). CPR certification. BLS Certification.
