The Cath Lab Tech assists physicians with imaging, hemodynamic monitoring, and procedural support during cardiac catheterization. They are also responsible for maintaining sterile environments, calibrating monitoring equipment, and documenting procedural data.
· Completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology and ARRT registry, with a valid Iowa Radiology technologist permit to practice, OR a graduate of Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program OR an Advanced medical training degree (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in paramedic, or Allied Health Profession) · Two years of related experience preferred. · Basic Life Support required within 3 months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. · Basic EKG monitoring class preferred. · ACLS preferred required within 6 months of hire. · Mandatory Reporter required within 3 months of hire will have to obtain his RCIS certification. This will entail him performing 600 procedures and then taking a test. This all needs to be done by 1.5 years of the hire date.
