Advanced Practice Provider PRN
The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for the medical management of hospitalized patients, including performing assessments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating care. They will also handle admissions, consultations, and respond to emergent situations within the inpatient setting.
Job Description The APP will be responsible for the medical management of the hospitalized patient population within the scope of an Advanced Practice Provider.
The term Advanced Practice Provider encompasses Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
The employee will have successfully completed a Master’s degree (or higher level of educational program) and have met the requirements for the respective State Board(s) (Missouri and Kansas).
The APP will hold and maintain a national certification and licensure as required by State Boards and Saint Luke’s Health System, as well as other certification as obligatory for this role.
The PRN Hospitalist APP works 10 hour day shift at the Wright Memorial and Hedrick Medical Centers.
There is a weekend and holiday requirement with this role.
The hours are 7 am to 5 pm.
This position is accountable for advanced clinical practice in the care of patients with general medical conditions, requiring acute inpatient treatment.
Responsibilities include obtaining and analyzing patient histories, performing comprehensive assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, coordinating care, and collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Skills required of this role will include but may not be limited to the following: utilizes prescriptive authority in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations obtains and documents relevant problem focused or comprehensive history from patient/medical records in a timely manner communicates effectively using appropriate terminology, format, and technology in accordance health system policies analyzes data to determine health status communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals performs an accurate physical exam demonstrates basic science and up to date clinical knowledge establishes a patient relationship characterized by mutual respect, empathy, and collaboration takes initiative for seeking opportunities to advance knowledge and experiences flexibility with scheduled rotations/locations as needed to ensure patient needs are met Role duties may include but are not limited to: Completion of admissions, consultations, and responding to emergent situations in the inpatient setting.
Independent practice in the inpatient setting and collaborating with physician(s) as appropriate.
Ordering and management of appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
