About the role

The Nurse Tech provides quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, assisting with daily patient needs, and ensuring accurate documentation.

About the unit 1E is a 20 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital.

Nurses enjoy working on 1E as you are able to become an expert in so many areas since we care for a wide variety of diagnosis.

Some of the patients we care for are those with Respiratory illnesses, Acute Kidney Injuries, DKA, Septic Shock and many more.

We also have a surgical population of Mastectomy patients and Thyroidectomy patients.

In addition to some of the above stated items, 1E also uses Endotool which is our continuous insulin drip program and utilizes cardiac drips.

Teamwork is vital within our unit and the staff work to ensure sound communication with the whole care team.

About the Hospital: Blodgett is an ever-growing, 330-bed acute care teaching hospital located in East Grand Rapids.

Originally founded in 1846, Blodgett has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community.

As a Level III trauma campus with a large annual surgical volume, we are equipped to care for a wide range of acute care patients.

We offer numerous specialty units that provide care unique to Blodgett in Grand Rapids, including Total Joint Replacement, a Primary Stroke Center, Acute Care of the Elderly, and Bariatric Surgery.

With units ranging from 20 to 24 beds, we foster close-knit teams while still providing highly specialized acute care.

Our inpatient nursing units also partner with our discharge lounge and virtual nursing teams housed at Blodgett, as well as 24/7 hospital supervisor and security support.

Recently, we welcomed external partner sites for Meijer Pharmacy and Starbucks.

This fall, we will also offer on-site parking to all team members.

Together, these resources and partnerships create a supportive environment where team members can thrive while delivering exceptional patient care.

Scope of work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.

Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.

Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.

Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days Core Schedule Week 1: Friday, Saturday Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday Week 3: Thursday, Friday Week 4: Wednesday, Saturday Week 5: Sunday, Tuesday Week 6: Tuesday, Wednesday
