  • Schedule: 7am-3pm, 3-11pm, 11pm-7am, 9am-2pm (Hours set based on necessity of department or office.)

PURPOSE

The Universal Service Worker monitors the health status of the clients/individuals and address their health-related needs, such as changing bandages, dressing wounds, or reminding them to take medication. The USW provides assistance with routine healthcare tasks and/or activities of daily living, bathing, toileting, or ambulation. We might also help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and doing laundry depending on the patient's abilities.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Provide patients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, or automobiles and with dressing and grooming. Give medication reminders. Provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients. Serve meals. Care for patients by changing bed linens, washing and ironing laundry, cleaning, or assisting with their personal care. Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, or problems to report and discuss observations with supervisor. Entertain, converse with, or read aloud to patients to keep them mentally healthy and alert. Assist and engage patients in exercises and/or daily activities. Assess the value, importance, or quality of things or people. Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources. Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events. Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Compile, code, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, or verify information or data. Complete all cleaning task daily. Perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to provide personal care, support activities of daily living, monitor resident well-being, and maintain a safe and supportive environment. The individual must be able to follow established care plans, agency procedures, and supervisor direction while maintaining professionalism, compassion, and confidentiality.
