Performs basic radiologic procedures such as x-rays under the supervision of a Radiologist, Facility Manager, or Supervisor. The role requires technical competence, sound judgment, and adherence to established protocols for patients across various age groups. The technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images, ensuring patient safety, practicing proper radiation protection, and maintaining accurate exam documentation. The position also includes responsibility for assigned equipment, workflow support, and routine department duties. Essential Functions: Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations specific to orthopedic care. Accurately position patients to obtain high-quality, diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Follow provider orders and established USFTGP imaging protocols. Operate digital radiography equipment and ensure optimal image quality. Adhere to radiation safety practices. Verify patient identity and confirm imaging orders prior to procedures. Upload, label, and document images accurately in PACS and EMR systems.
Maintain imaging equipment and ensure exam room cleanliness and readiness. Recognize when additional views are needed to support accurate diagnosis and communicate with provider if additional views are suggested. Collaborate effectively with physicians, athletic trainers, medical assistants, and clinic staff to maintain patient flow. Provide excellent patient-centered service, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.

High School Diploma or GED Basic X-Ray Machine Operator Basic Life Support At least one (1) year of x-ray technologist experience in an orthopedic setting Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and radiographic positioning techniques.

Knowledge of equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.

Knowledge of customer service concepts and clinic policies including safety, privacy and HIPAA regulations.

Understanding of x-ray protocols, diagnostic imaging principles, radiation protection, and equipment safety hazards common to radiology.

Ability to apply anatomical knowledge to positioning, technical procedures, and age-appropriate patient care, while adhering to HIPAA, privacy, and clinic safety policies.

Requirements
