About the role

The Intake Coordinator is responsible for managing the patient intake process, including handling all intake calls and providing information to professional staff and agencies. They also maintain data for committee reporting and develop relationships with referral sources.

  • Alabama Clinical Schools has been a behavioral healthcare provider in the Birmingham area for over 20 years.
  • Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages.
  • Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama.

  • Responsible for all patient intake calls; providing information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff (i.e., physicians, consulting professionals) requesting information regarding potential admissions, developing and/or maintaining relationships with ongoing sources of referral to alternate treatment sources when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in a clinical area, such as counseling, social work from an accredited school and at least five years exp.in the mental health field.
  • 3 years clinical experience in psychiatric setting; situational evaluation and crisis intervention experience required.
  • Licensed in field (ex: LCSW, LPC) preferable. not required.
  • A thorough knowledge of emotional disturbances, DSM-V-R diagnosis and the ability to quickly assess residents for their risk to themselves and others.
  • Successfully pass background screen (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check) and drug testing.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a clinical area such as counseling or social work and possess at least five years of experience in the mental health field. Additionally, three years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting and proficiency in crisis intervention are required.
