Exercise Physiologist-Full Time-Days
The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for developing safe exercise prescriptions and monitoring patients' clinical status during cardiac rehabilitation sessions. They also provide patient education, assess risk factors, and coordinate care with medical staff.

Ensures safe exercise therapy, by proper patient orientation and supervision, and with ongoing monitoring of patient’s clinical status.

In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Assesses patients’ risk factors that are modifiable and offers support and strategies to aid patient in successful therapeutic lifestyle changes Participates in educational efforts, classes, and/or individual instruction Develops and adjusts individual exercise prescription Supervises exercise session, monitoring patients for inappropriate responses to exercise Assesses patient pre, during and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to patients, other staff, and primary care physician and/or medical director Immediately reports any new, changing and/or significant signs and/or symptoms Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job: Education and Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree in an exercise science area of study required Work Experience: 2 years of recent and relevant experience required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language Strong communication skills Strong exercise science knowledge base for primary and secondary disease prevention, with the ability to compute MET level and exercise prescriptions in accordance with ACSM standards Manual dexterity in use of equipment and supplies Ability to understand stress test results Knowledgeable of the psychosocial, physiological, developmental, and spiritual needs of the young adult, middle adult, and older adult to provide appropriate care and intervention either personally or through staff Ability to utilize a computer and hospital applications Physical Requirements: Hearing ability Ability to speak clearly Visual acuity Motor coordination and manual dexterity Good physical and mental stamina to perform duties and responsibilities Some physical exertion involved when participating in exercise sessions and in any situation requiring emergency treatment of a patient Work may include light cleaning and preparing facility Required Licenses and Certifications Cape Fear Valley Health System is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/Disability/Veteran/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in an exercise science field and possess at least two years of recent, relevant experience. Proficiency in English and the ability to apply ACSM standards for exercise prescription are required.
