The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats pediatric and adult clients with neurological and developmental needs to improve communication, swallowing, and cognitive skills. Summary

At Origami Rehabilitation, the Speech-Language Pathologist is an integral member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team dedicated to helping pediatric and adult clients with neurological, developmental, and complex rehabilitation needs regain communication, swallowing, and cognitive-linguistic skills that support independence and quality of life.

This is a temporary position working approximately 30–40 hours per week through early January 2027, with travel required between various Origami campus locations based on client and program needs. Working under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and in partnership with the Clinical Manager and other clinical professionals, the Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats clients using evidence-based practices and individualized treatment plans while contributing to a highly collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Essential Duties

Model appropriate behavior conducive to a positive working and therapeutic environment. Observe all rules of confidentiality as they pertain to program participants internally, and in working with outside individuals and/or agencies. Proactively initiate and follow-through with tasks utilizing appropriate problem- solving techniques to facilitate communication flow and prompt resolutions. Promote positive morale among peers by modeling and encouraging effective teamwork and communication. Engage in thorough and timely communication with members of the interdisciplinary team, client, support systems, and external stakeholders as appropriate for effective treatment planning. Adhere to ethical guidelines set forth by the American Speech and Hearing Association and practice in accordance with the State of Michigan regulations. Attend clinical reviews and care conferences as appropriate. Evaluate, document findings, prepare, and implement treatment plans for clients referred by physicians. Record evaluations, daily progress notes, discharge reports, outcomes measures, monthly assessments (residential), and service billings in a timely manner and in accordance with procedure to provide complete documentation for client charts. Follow schedule tracker and communication protocols for therapy related scheduling needs. Educate staff, clients and external stakeholders on swallowing precautions and other modalities as appropriate. Assume responsibility for the design and effective implementation for speech therapy related group therapy activities. Contribute to the design and maintenance of effective and timely systems of documentation, including the collection and analysis of outcome data and auditing systems. Maintain caseload at a level deemed reasonable by the Clinical Supervisor.

Requirements

Possess a valid State Driver’s License or ability to plan and provide transportation as required Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Must maintain Michigan licensure and CCC-SLP certification throughout employment. Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to palpate, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop kneel or crawl. Accommodated alternatives are acceptable if they accomplish the necessary essential tasks. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to assist in transfers, gait, and mobility training.
