Nursing Assistant - SNU - Part Time
The Nursing Assistant provides direct resident care, assists with activities of daily living, and supports individualized care plans under the direction of professional nursing staff. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe, clean environment, documenting daily activities, and participating in team conferences.

Organization Overview Guthrie is a not-for-profit, integrated healthcare system serving patients throughout the Twin Tiers of New York and Northern Pennsylvania. Our Skilled Nursing Unit is committed to providing compassionate, resident-centered care while promoting teamwork, professional growth, and clinical excellence.
Role Summary The Nursing Assistant works under the direction of the professional nursing staff to provide direct resident care within the Skilled Nursing Unit. This role assists residents with activities of daily living, supports individualized care plans, and helps maintain a safe, comfortable, and respectful environment for residents and their families.
1. Compliance with rules and regulations of all federal, state, and local governments is a requirement of employment. 2. Provides direct care to assure resident comfort. 3. Participates in team conferences and care planning. 4. Prepares residents for meals, assists in feeding. 5. Maintains resident's rights. 6. Makes rounds. Anticipates resident needs and responds to call lights. 7. Reports to appropriate nursing personnel pertinent information including any changes observed in condition or behavior of resident. 8. Provides input into resident care plans. 9. Assists in maintaining safe and clean environment. 10. Other duties assigned, reasonably related. 11. Assists in orientation of nursing assistants. 12. Completes daily documentation. 13. Keeps informed of fire, safety, and disaster programs. 14. Attends designated in-service programs. 15. Participates in Performance Improvement activities. 16. Attends staff meetings.
Caregivers must be active participants in quality improvement processes: 1. Identifying areas where quality improvement processes can be applied 2. Collecting & organizing quality measurement data 3. Participate on quality teams
Internal Contacts: Daily contact with clients at all levels, including managers and employees

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and must obtain Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Certification within 120 days of hire. Previous nursing assistant experience is preferred, and the role requires CPR/AED certification and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 100 pounds.
